About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Manchester United secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday. The match was marked by a dominant performance from the home side, who capitalized on a first-half goal from Bryan Mbeumo (GAP +4.1%) and a late strike by Bruno Fernandes (GAP +2.8%) to seal the win. This result was largely expected given Tottenham's recent struggles and United's solid form. The game took a decisive turn in the 29th minute when Tottenham's Cristian Romero (GAP +0.4%) received a red card, leaving the visitors with ten men for the majority of the match. This incident allowed Manchester United to control the game more effectively, with Bryan Mbeumo opening the scoring in the 38th minute. Despite Tottenham's attempts to regroup, United's dominance was evident, and they doubled their lead in the 81st minute through Bruno Fernandes. In terms of lineup changes, Manchester United's manager opted for consistency, making no changes to the starting eleven from their previous match. On the other hand, Tottenham's head coach made three changes, bringing in Pape Matar Sarr, Micky van de Ven, and Wilson Odobert, while Yves Bissouma, Randal Kolo Muani, and Radu Drăgușin were left out. These changes were partly due to injuries and suspensions affecting the squad. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) highlighted several key performances, with Senne Lammens (GAP +4.2%) and Amad Diallo (GAP +3.7%) also contributing significantly to United's control of the match. For Tottenham, Conor Gallagher (GAP +3.1%) was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise challenging game. This victory solidifies Manchester United's position in the upper echelons of the Premier League table, boosting their confidence as they continue their pursuit of a top-four finish. Tottenham, meanwhile, must regroup quickly to address their form and squad depth issues as they aim to climb the standings in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
